Growing up in Hendersonville, TN, we always had the Star News. I loved getting this paper in high school because it was fun to see myself or class mates in the paper for accomplishments. It also taught me at a young age to be aware of what was happening in my local community. I learned to enjoy reading about new stores or restaurants or opinions and also to respect those that have gone on before us. The Star News seems to have disappeared but several of the writers that know our community so well have moved over and now write with the Hendersonville Standard. You can subscribe for a minimal annual fee (like $10) and the paper will be delivered to your mailbox every Friday. It is totally worth it if you want to know what is happening in local schools, businesses and politics. Check out their website and subscribe.
